I want to take the MBTI® assessment. What are my options?
Since the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® is a psychological assessment, it is restricted to use by certified professionals. You will need to find a practitioner who is certified to administer the MBTI instrument to you. The cost to take the MBTI assessment varies depending on who gives it to you. There is also an online option.
How can I find someone to give me the MBTI® instrument?
If you are in the USA, an advising or counseling service at a local university or college may be able to suggest a person in private practice in the community who uses the MBTI instrument. You can also find MBTI professionals in your geographic area through the referral lists on the MBTI® Master Practitioner Referral Network, and the Association for Psychological Type. In addition, APTi chapter leaders can suggest people in their areas; contact information for APTi chapters is also on the APTi website. You can also take the MBTI online.
If you are not in the USA you can find a distributor in your country through the CPP website. CPP licenses the international distributors worldwide who provide MBTI training, MBTI translations, and support materials. Contact the distributor in your area and ask if they will assist you in arranging to take the MBTI instrument. If there is no distributor in your area contact the MBTI publisher at globalsales@cpp.com; they will be able to assist you with your request.
How do I find a certified administrator to come to my organization?
You can arrange with a professional to come in, give the MBTI assessment, and follow-up later with feedback to the group, and possibly individually with each member. An advising or counseling service at a local university or college may be able to suggest a person in private practice in the community who uses the MBTI tool. You can also find certified professionals in your geographic area through the referral lists at the MBTI® Master Practitioner Referral Network, and the Association for Psychological Type. In addition, APTi chapter leaders can suggest qualified people in their areas; contact information for APTi chapters is also on the APTi website.
Can I take the MBTI® instrument online?
Yes, you have a couple of options.
You can take the MBTI assessment and receive your results and interpretation assistance online. The MBTI®Complete is an online option from CPP, and individuals can take the instrument directly and verify the results without a Certified Practitioner as the administrator. The website is www.MBTIComplete.com.
You can also take the MBTI online and receive feedback from a trained MBTI practitioner. Take the MBTI®Online with Personal Feedback , is an option offered by The Center for Applications of Psychological Type (CAPT®). This option includes an hour of individual person-to-person feedback from a certified professional by phone after you take the MBTI online. The phone appointment must be scheduled in advance. The link provides you with general info and a phone number if you have further questions.
Is the MBTI® instrument available internationally?
Yes. CPP, the MBTI publisher, has distributors worldwide. There is a lot of helpful information on the CPP website, including a list of Global Qualification Providers & Distributors and the languages in which the MBTI instrument is now available. If there are no product distributors listed for your country, CPP can still help you reach your organizational and developmental goals. Please contact them at globalsales@cpp.com or call +1 650-969-8901 and ask for the International Sales Division.
